As shown by another study conducted in the project Pew Internet and American Life Project, more and more Americans communicate using short text messages.

87% of American teenagers are sent to about fifty SMS per day

By the end of this May, 72% of U.S. residents over the age of 18 years to send and receive SMS through mobile phones. For comparison: in September of 2009, compared with 65%. Among adolescents 12-17 years, experts have counted 87% of those who send or receive SMS, and the average number of messages per day reached fifty. It is five times greater than the send / accept adult Americans.

The study also showed that four out of five inhabitants of the United States (82%) have a mobile phone. In November 2004 the figure was 65%. Almost the same number of Americans (79%) are in the possession of a desktop computer or laptop.

And a little more intriguing statistics. 91% of respondents told the experts that with mobile phones, they feel safe, and 42% experienced irritation when their studies interrupted by a phone call or SMS. 57% are unwanted or promotional text messages, and 86% believe rude people who check on the phone missed calls or SMS during the meetings or conversations. 65% of adults surveyed go to bed, put the phone on the bed or next to it.
