BlackBerry smartphones bypassed iPhone
In the third quarter of 2010, the Canadian company RIM shipped 14.2 million smartphones BlackBerry, said in a press release. According to this index RIM surpassed Apple, which in June-September, has sold 14.1 million iPhone.
Compared with September-November 2009, BlackBerry deliveries rose 40 percent. In this last quarter was a record for the company’s history. Its revenues for the period amounted to 5.5 billion dollars and also increased by 40 percent compared with 2009.
These indicators RIM could be achieved through a stable base of BlackBerry users and cheap prepaid service. Note that in early August, RIM introduced the slider BlackBerry Torch. Data on sales of this smartphone is not listed.
Apple does not currently reported on shipments of smart phones iPhone in the period from October to December. These figures are traditionally published in January. According to analysts, the number of iPhone shipments during this period may reach 16 million.
BlackBerry smartphones are the market leaders in the U.S.. In June, the world has been sold to one hundred millionth unit. Currently the company RIM is preparing to release its first Tablet BlackBerry PlayBook, which is expected to be available in North America in the first quarter of 2011.
