iPhone mini - a smaller version of iPhone 4 priced at $200

Apple is developing a mini version of the smartphone iPhone, reports Bloomberg. C working prototype of a new model of iPhone read an anonymous source news agency Bloomberg.

It is reported that the smartphone will be less than the current version of the iPhone 4. In this case, it will be priced at $200 without having to sign a contract with mobile operator. Presumably, the new product can be presented in the summer of 2011. However, Apple does not officially been able to confirm or deny this information.

It is expected that with the help of new items Apple expects to compete with inexpensive Android-based smartphones. Recall that according to the sales of smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2010, the proportion of Android in the mobile OS is 32.9 percent.

This means that one third of the smartphone, bought in October-December 2010 OSes running on Google. At the same time the share of iPhone, running OS Apple iOS, representing 16 per cent.

Also, the source told Bloomberg that Apple is developing technology that will use the iPhone in the networks of GSM and CDMA. It does not specify whether it is supported by several SIM-cards, or the total elimination of their use. Previously available information on the web that Apple is working on a digital analog SIM-cards, called “universal SIM”, but official confirmation is not received.
